Something as simple as a cup phone could be used to better connect the users and by colour coding them in the white interior they would stand out. I would be cautious of how well the sound would travel if the strings were touching the walls in the space.
After thinking about what I could work on to resolve my final idea, and based off the feedback from the interim presentation I decided that there needed to be more elements to encounter in the space. I felt that there needed to be a stronger source of the voices, as opposed to having to yell to hear the other person in the separate space. The yelling aspect could be better used as a tool to find the right place in the space to easily speak to the other person. This would also represent the uncertainty of weather the call would connect or not.
Concept drawings of how tubes connect to structure and inhabit the space inside
Perhaps something more like the precedent example where tubing is used would help the sound travel better.
Resloving ideas for final design and presentation
The ladders which were used to get into the space were more of a temporary solution to entering the space. I think that a simple door and stairs that flow down into the space will work just as well to initiate the user into the space and can also be used to gain some hight and be closer to the other person.
IDEA!
If the rooms in the space had different levels to help the users become more connected with each other it would strengthen the design. Different obstacles in the space may also give the users something to reference when trying to identify the correct listening device!
